Edit

The Design segment has tools that allow you to edit shapes and attributes in scenario layers. Changes made to the features are visible to all users who have access to the scenario.

Please note that if the option of Editors can only update and delete the features they add is unchecked for the template feature service, any project team member can edit any features associated with the project. However, if this option is checked, only the user who created the feature can edit it. Reference Enable editing of a feature service for how to set the editing options for the template feature service.

All workflows below are conducted in the Design segment.

Move a feature

You can select a point, line, or polygon feature and move it to another location on the map.

  1. On the application toolbar, click Design.
  2. Select a scenario feature by clicking it.

    Scenario features reside in the Active Scenario layers.

  3. Hover over the feature, drag it to the desired location, and release the mouse.
  4. Click a blank area to deselect the feature and complete the move.

Edit feature geometry

The geometry of a line or polygon feature can be edited.

  1. On the application toolbar, click Design.
  2. Double-click a feature to display its vertices.
  3. Select a vertex and drag it to another location.
  4. Repeat this step for additional vertices, if necessary.
  5. Click a blank area to deselect the feature and complete the geometry change.

Edit feature attributes

Attributes of a point, line, or polygon feature can be edited through the attribute pop-up.

  1. On the application toolbar, click Design.
  2. Select a feature by clicking it.
  3. On the toolbar below the design tools, click the Attributes button Attributes.
  4. Make changes to the attributes.
  5. Click Save.

    The pop-up closes and changes are saved. If a feature type is changed, the symbol will update on the map.

Undo or redo edit

The Undo tool allows you to cancel the most recent edit. The Redo tool allows you to reapply the most recent edit. Clicking either of these tools a second time will apply the operation to the next most recent edit, and so forth. Affected edit operations include adding a new feature, editing a feature geometry or attribute, painting a feature, deleting a feature, and moving a feature.

Copy and paste a feature between scenarios

You can copy features from one scenario to another scenario if you have access to both scenarios.

  1. On the application toolbar, click Design.
  2. Select one scenario feature in the current scenario by clicking it on the map.

    Selection handle bars appear around the feature.

    Scenario features reside in the Active Scenario layers.

  3. Click Copy.
  4. In the upper-left corner of the application, click the scenario dropdown and choose another scenario..
  5. Click Paste.

Delete a feature in a scenario

You can delete features in a scenario using the Delete tool. Changes made to the features are visible to all users who have access to the scenario.

When the option of Editors can only update and delete the features they add is unchecked for the template feature service, any project team member can edit any features associated with the project. However, if this option is checked, only the user who created the feature can edit it. See Enable editing of a feature service for how to set the editing options for the template feature service.

  1. On the application toolbar, click Design.
  2. Select one feature in the current scenario by clicking it in the map.

  3. Click Delete.

    Alternatively, you can press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete the feature.
